| Zinc:
Zinc is a bluish-white metallic element and is used to make
galvanized iron alloys such as brass, and die-casting metal.
When it’s rolled out into sheets, it can be used as a
protective covering for roofs because it very resistant to
atmospheric corrosion.
Zinc production in the United States started in 1850 and the metal
was used to create many things, including statues and grave
monuments. The zinc well
in this 19th century, kitchen cupboard is called a “dry
sink.” Dry sinks had
no water faucets or drains. Can
