Sarber/Dillinger Story: In 1933, after robbing a bank in Bluffton, the notorious John Dillinger found himself awaiting trial in the Allen County Jail. Three of Dillinger's friends showed up on October 12th to spring him from jail. Sheriff Jess Sarber was shot and killed during that escape. The Allen County Museum's newest exhibit, "the Sarber/Dillinger Story," tells the story of what happened on October 12, 1933 and the ensuing manhunt when John Dillinger became Public Enemy Number One.
