Volunteer for the Allen County Historical Society

Have you been thinking about volunteer service?  Volunteering is a wonderful way to give something back to your community.  The Allen County Historical Society and Museum offers a number of volunteer opportunities.

  1. Our award winning “Docent” program will train you to share your passion and enthusiasm for history with visitors touring our Museum.

  2. The Children’s Discovery Center is serving an ever growing audience of families and kids.  Assisting children with programs and projects is a very rewarding experience.

  3. The Elizabeth M. MacDonell Memorial Library is always in need of help with shelving books, copying articles, and filing informaiton in our archives.  Those with experience in genealogical research are especially welcome!

  4. Are you a history researcher?  Do you like to write or present programs on history?

  5. Our lobby and gift shop is a very busy place.  Is your interest in sales, reception, or just answering the phone?

  6. Are you a model railroader?  Our large model railroad layout might be just the ticket for you.

  7. Our Victorian Guild volunteers host monthly teas at the MacDonell House.  Do you like to bake, serve tea, or exercise your creativity?

  8. Do you have computer skills?  Do you sew?  Maybe you like to work with your hands - building, painting, making crafts?
