““Life in Colonial America” is an open house style program that will be hosted by the Allen County Museum on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. This family program encourages Kids, Moms, Dads, Grandparents and others to join in some interactive activities and demonstrations to learn more about our Colonial ancestors.

  1. Experience school in the 1700s and write with quill and ink.

  1. Visit our general store and learn about shopping in the 1700s.

  1. Discover what vegetables you would have grown. Make butter.

  1. Learn about spinning and weaving and how they dyed natural fibers.

  1. Try a dance from colonial times and play period games.

  1. Discover the importance of manners and serving tea in colonial times.

  1. Learn about colonial fashion and the significance of needlework.

  1. Meet a Revolutionary War re-enactor.

  1. See Native American artifacts, make crafts, and more.

                       “George Washington” will make an appearance
